Terms of Service
The rules of the road for using Storyplease. They exist to keep kids safe and the service kind.
Last updated: 2026-05-15
1. Who can use Storyplease
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Storyplease account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are an adult (a parent, guardian, grandparent, teacher, or similar caregiver) and that any children depicted in the stories you create are children you have the right to depict — typically your own family or children entrusted to your care.
Storyplease is not designed for direct use by children. Do not share your account credentials with anyone, including a child.
2. What Storyplease is for
Storyplease exists for a single purpose: to help families create age-appropriate, kid-friendly bedtime stories featuring people they love. Templates cover scripture, life lessons, character principles, family events, learning, history, gentle humor, adventure, and nature — all in the spirit of bedtime reading for young children (roughly ages 3–9).
3. What you may NOT do
- Do not generate content unsuitable for children. No sexual content, sexualized depictions of any kind, graphic violence, gore, drug use, profanity, or content designed to scare, traumatize, or distress a child. Storyplease is for bedtime stories — not edgy fiction, satire, or adult creative writing.
- Do not depict real people without consent. The "people" you add to your account must be members of your family, close friends, or others who have consented to being part of your stories. Do not add celebrities, public figures, strangers, classmates, or anyone you have not been given permission to depict.
- Absolutely no Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or content sexualizing minors in any way. This is a non-negotiable, zero-tolerance rule. Any account found generating or attempting to generate such content will be permanently terminated, all data preserved, and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement as required by U.S. federal law.
- Do not upload inappropriate reference photos. Photos of people added to your account must be normal, clothed photos of the actual person. Do not upload nudity, partial nudity, photos of strangers, photos taken without consent, or photos intended to bypass our content moderation.
- Do not try to bypass our safety systems. Don't write prompts designed to extract violent, sexual, hateful, or otherwise prohibited content. Don't try to "jailbreak" the AI. Don't try to circumvent moderation by misspelling, using metaphor, or hiding intent in role descriptions.
- Do not use Storyplease to harass, defame, or harm. Don't create stories that depict real people in a degrading, defamatory, or harassing way. Don't impersonate others.
- Do not abuse the platform. Don't share or sell your account. Don't scrape the service, automate excessive requests, or attempt to overload the system. Don't reverse-engineer or attempt to extract our prompts, models, or training data.
- Do not use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission. Stories you create are for your family's personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially publish generated stories or illustrations.
- Do not violate laws. Don't use Storyplease for anything illegal in your jurisdiction.
4. What happens when the rules are broken
We monitor for prohibited content using a combination of automated systems (text and image moderation, content safety classifiers) and human review when necessary. When we identify a violation of these terms, the consequences depend on severity:
- Minor or first-time violations (e.g., a borderline prompt blocked by moderation): no action beyond the request being denied.
- Repeated or deliberate attempts to bypass our safety systems: account suspension pending review.
- Serious violations (e.g., uploading inappropriate photos, generating prohibited content): immediate permanent account deletion. Subscription fees are not refunded.
- CSAM or other illegal content: immediate account termination, data preservation, and reporting to NCMEC and law enforcement.
We do not provide warnings for serious violations. If your account is deleted for cause, you may not create a new one.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you provide (custom prompts, character descriptions, reference photos). You grant Storyplease a limited license to use this content solely to provide the service to you — generating and storing your stories. We do not use your content to train AI models.
Generated stories and illustrations are produced by third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini) on your behalf. The output is yours to use for your family's personal, non-commercial purposes. Note that AI-generated content may not be eligible for copyright protection in all jurisdictions.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans (Family, Storyteller) are billed monthly or annually. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
If your account is suspended or deleted for a Terms of Service violation, any prepaid subscription fees are forfeit.
We may change pricing with at least 30 days notice via email. Continued use of a paid plan after a price change constitutes acceptance.
7. Service availability
Storyplease is provided "as is" without warranty. AI generation may occasionally fail, produce odd output, or take longer than expected. We do not guarantee that stories will perfectly match your prompts, that illustrations will look exactly like reference photos, or that the service will be available 100% of the time.
8. Account deletion and data export
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: all stories, illustrations, people, photos, and account history are permanently removed. You may export your data as JSON from Settings → Export my data before deleting.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Storyplease, its operators, and its providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the prior twelve months.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Storyplease after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah County, Utah.
